Stadsaal Caves
I visited the Stadsaal Caves during our trip to the Cederberg Wilderness Area. People have lived here for over 500,000 years. Like many things, European colonialism put an end to that and the final cave painting was made 200 years ago. National Party grafitti from a secret meeting in 1948 still scars the inside of the caves though, which provides a cruel historical and aesthetic contrast. We went clambering around the caves and watched the storm and rainbows roll in.
